Dear Campus Community,
At the end of this month, from September 25-27, the campus will be hosting an accreditation reaffirmation site visit by a peer evaluation team appointed by our institutional accrediting agency, the WASC Senior College and University Commission (WSCUC). We warmly invite your engaged participation in the visit, either by attending in-person meetings with the reviewers and/or by submitting comments by email; see below for more details on these options. However you choose to be involved, we encourage you to provide the peer evaluation team with a full picture of your experiences of the academic life of UC Berkeley.
The September site visit is part of UC Berkeley’s 2024 Reaffirmation of Accreditation with WSCUC. As part of the accreditation process, the campus undergoes regular review by WSCUC to ensure that our academics and supporting programs and services align with WSCUC’s Standards of Accreditation and meet federal Department of Education requirements. Further details about the process may be found on our 2024 Reaffirmation of Accreditation website.
Opportunities for Campus Engagement
As part of the in-person site visit we invite all members of the campus to participate in one of two ways:
1. Attend a scheduled stakeholder meeting and provide your feedback directly to the WSCUC Peer Evaluation Team. A series of meetings with the team are scheduled, including open forum sessions and one-on-one meetings. The open forums will include time for faculty, staff, and students to meet with the WSCUC Peer Evaluation Team and respond to their questions about your experiences of the campus. More information about the open forum sessions may be found here. If you would like to attend a session, please RSVP by registering with this Google Form.
2. Submit your comments and input to WSCUC directly and confidentially by emailing: berkeley@wscuc.org. The email account is managed by a WSCUC staff member and only authorized WSCUC staff and team members have access to it. The emails are not viewed by any representative of UC Berkeley.
Thank you in advance for your participation and engagement in this important campus endeavor. Questions for UC Berkeley leadership about the visit may be directed to vpue@berkeley.edu.
Sincerely,
Oliver M. O’Reilly
