UC Berkeley is dedicated to providing staff with the tools and training needed for excellence in advising. The Division of Undergraduate Education has made a number of critical investments in resources for advising and student services staff.


Advising Strategy + Training

The Advising Strategy + Training website is the central resource hub for the advising community at Berkeley. The website hosts information on Advancing Practice workshops, Advising Fellows Program, Virtual Advising Toolkit, Excellence in Advising Awards, and more.

MAST Position

The Manager, Advising Strategy and Training (MAST) enhances advising, and coordinating support for the 900+ members of the academic and co-curricular advising community. This role was created with initial funding from the Haas Jr. Fund in support of the Chancellor’s commitment to improving the undergraduate student experience.

Discovery Resources

Learn how to inspire and guide students in their discovery journeys at Berkeley with this collection of resources and best practices in “advising for discovery.” 

Major Maps

Help students explore undergraduate majors and academic, co-curricular, and discovery opportunities by creating major maps for your undergraduate degree programs. Major Maps are experience maps that help students design and plan their UC Berkeley undergraduate journey based on their intended major.

Reports and Data

Inform your advising with student data and reports curated by the Division of Undergraduate Education. Available materials include the UC Undergraduate Experience Survey, New Student Survey, Golden Bear Orientation Survey, and Student Pulse Surveys.
