Creating equitable and inclusive environments for our students, staff, and faculty.
In 2009, UC Berkeley adopted a campus-wide Strategic Plan for Equity, Inclusion and Diversity that called for all campus divisions to deepen their understanding of how the principles of equity, inclusion, and diversity can transform their work. The strategic plan also called for a process for each division to put these principles into operation within their workspaces and programs.
Toward this aim, the Vice Chancellor for Undergraduate Education (VCUE) established an Equity and Inclusion Strategic Plan Working Group in the winter of 2013. The group produced the report “Full Participation: Equity, Inclusion, and Diversity in the Division of Undergraduate Education” that conveys recommendations for how the Division can more thoroughly integrate the values of equity, inclusion, and diversity into its community, programs, and work processes.
An Equity, Inclusion and Diversity (EID) Implementation Team has been charged by the VCUE to move forward the report’s recommendations. The EID Team consists of staff from across the Division, and focuses on the following areas:
