Preparing for Spring 2024 Instruction - Upcoming sessions and workshops

You are warmly invited to several special instructional events to help you prepare for the coming semester:

Spring 2024 Instructional Update | Tuesday, January 9, 10-11 a.m.
The Spring 2024 Instructional Update is an opportunity for instructors to hear timely information from campus leaders on emerging issues, resources, and updates. The event will be hosted on Zoom and feature presentations from:

  • Oliver O'Reilly, Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education
  • Max Auffhammer, Chair of the Berkeley Division of the Academic Senate
  • Lisa García Bedolla, Vice Provost for Graduate Studies and Dean of the Graduate Division
  • Shawna Dark, Chief Academic Technology Officer and Assistant Vice Provost
  • Erfan Mojaddam, Deputy Chief Academic Technology Officer and Director of Learning Technologies and Spaces
  • Jenae Cohn, Executive Director, Center for Teaching & Learning

DSP Accommodations Session | Tuesday, January 9, 11 a.m.-12 p.m.
Learn about instructor resources for navigating the DSP (Disabled Students’ Program) accommodations process and the critical role of faculty within this process. This session will cover roles and responsibilities of faculty and students, the DSP intake process, and do’s and don’ts for instructors. The event will be hosted on Zoom and take place immediately following the Spring 2024 Instructional Update. Presenters include:

  • Carmen Varela, Executive Director, Disabled Students’ Program
  • Carolyn Swalina, Acting Assistant Director for Accommodations Services, Disabled Students’ Program
  • Steve Johnston, Policy, Complaint, and Special Project Manager, Office of Disability Access and Compliance
  • Jonah Levy + Justin Davidson, DSP Faculty Liaisons

Research, Teaching and Learning (RTL) Events
We are thrilled to also invite you to the Spring Teaching Kickoff and Social on Wednesday, January 10 hosted by Research, Teaching, and Learning (RTL). This in-person event features a series of 15-minute sessions, followed by a fun mixer.
