Berkeley Collegium "Narrowing the Gap Between Teaching and Research" proposals due March 29, 2021

February 8, 2021

Dear Colleagues,

The Berkeley Collegium is charged with the mission of fostering innovation and excellence in undergraduate teaching at UC Berkeley. Its members are among Berkeley’s most creative, inspiring, and effective teachers, and the Collegium provides this group of faculty members with resources for initiatives that will elevate teaching, especially at the undergraduate level, across the campus.

The Collegium is inviting proposals for new or existing projects that further the goal of narrowing the gap between teaching and research at Berkeley. This grant program dovetails with the broader campus Discovery initiative. For an existing project, grant funds should not be viewed as replacement funding, but rather should be targeted for expanding or improving the project, e.g., adding a new component. The focus is on undergraduates, but proposals may incorporate graduate and postdoctoral students if relevant.

The Collegium aims to fund up to five projects of up to $15,000 each over a 1-2 year grant period (depending on the nature of the project). More grants may be funded if budgets are under the $15,000 maximum. The grant period begins at the start of the Fall 2021 semester.

Detailed information about the grant, as well as submission instructions and the submission form, can be found on the Berkeley Collegium Grant Program website.

All applications must be received by the end of the day on Monday, March 29, 2021.
