Session Abstract
Alex will speak about the 21-foot-diameter James Webb Space Telescope, which has been obtaining stunning color images of celestial objects at infrared (heat) wavelengths and providing amazing new discoveries. The nontechnical explanations will provide many interesting insights about the cosmos.

Alex Filippenko is one of the world's most highly cited astrophysicists and an elected member of the National Academy of Sciences. He was named the 2006 National Professor of the Year, and UCB students have voted him the “Best Professor” a record 9 times.
