Exam Schedule

Spring final exams will take place over a five-day period (Monday, May 12 - Friday, May 16), with four exam periods scheduled each day as follows:

  • 8:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.
  • 11:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.
  • 3:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.
  • 7:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m.

Final exam locations are published at classes.berkeley.edu (search for a class to view its final exam date, time, and location(s) in the left-hand sidebar of the class details page). Enrolled students and instructors may also view final exam details in CalCentral. Questions about the class schedule or academic calendar may be directed to scheduling@berkeley.edu.

Please note there will be final exams in the Recreational Sports Facility (RSF) Fieldhouse this semester; however, there will be no Registrar staffing available to aid with time management or to reset furniture.

Academic Accommodations
If you have a student with accommodation needs, please visit the Academic Accommodations Hub for information on accommodations and supportive measures.

Please be aware that examinations must be conducted in a manner that accommodates all students. For example, if a student’s accommodation for extended time cannot be met, then it is a contravention of the Americans with Disabilities Act to offer the examination for the rest of the class. Instructors in this situation should reach out to their department chair, or consider giving their examination in a 24+ hour window.

For additional information about assessing learning, please consider these strategies on the Center for Teaching and Learning website.

DSP Accommodations and Proctoring
Faculty who submitted Testing Agreements should urgently notify their students to submit their exam requests, which must be submitted 10 days prior to the date of the exam. Once the Testing Agreement has been completed, students are responsible for using the AIM Student Portal to submit their own requests to have their individual exams proctored via DSP. Faculty who did not submit a Testing Agreement prior to the April 18 deadline are instructed to contact the Registrar's Office to secure their own rooms and provide their own proctors.

The Disabled Students’ Program (DSP) Proctoring Center typically experiences a high-volume of requests for final exams. Please allow sufficient time when emailing proctoring@berkeley.edu with questions regarding exam requests. Due to space limitations, DSP gives preference to students who require accommodations such as 200% extended time, room alone, scribe, use of a computer or assistive technology, etc. Students who require accommodations of 150% extended time in a reduced distraction environment will be put on a standby list and scheduled if seating is available. Please make every effort to provide accommodations for students with 150% extended time and reduced distraction within your department.

Instructors can access a 10-point Guide to DSP Accommodations about common issues that instructors may encounter in handling DSP accommodations. The guide was compiled by faculty members Justin Davidson and Jonah Levy, Disabled Students’ Program Executive Director Carmen Varela, and Disability Access and Compliance Policy, Complaint, and Special Project Manager Steve Johnston.

Jonah and Justin serve as DSP Faculty Liaisons and help instructors with DSP accommodations. Justin, Jonah, and the DSP Proctoring Center are available to discuss issues that instructors may be having with DSP accommodations, or to make presentations about DSP to departments. Contact them at justin.davidson@berkeley.edu, jlevy@berkeley.edu, and proctoring@berkeley.edu. Steve Johnston is available to discuss access and compliance concerns and to present about these matters to departments. Contact him at stevejohnston@berkeley.edu.

Unforeseen Disruptions
Should potential external circumstances or unforeseen campus events near our testing locations occur, exams may need to be rescheduled or timings adjusted to ensure all students' accommodations are met. Your understanding and flexibility are greatly appreciated.

Classroom Access and Maintenance
All exam venues will be checked prior to final exam week to ensure that rooms are in acceptable condition for test-taking. Blackboards will be cleaned and other elements that could impact exams will be addressed. Per usual exam protocol, buildings with final exams will be locked at 10:00 p.m. or at the end time of the last final exam in the building. Please direct questions to hotline@berkeley.edu or via the Hotline online report form.

Safety
Night safety services will be available during the final exams period. To access these services, call (510) 642-9255 or visit the Night Safety Services website.

A/V and Technology Services
If you plan on using classroom technology during a final exam and would like to meet with a technologist, test your media, or familiarize yourself with the equipment, you may request these services via the online request form from Research, Teaching, and Learning (RTL) or by emailing classroomav@berkeley.edu.
