Exam Schedule

Fall 2023 final exams will take place over a five-day period (Monday, December 11 - Friday, December 15), with four exam periods scheduled each day as follows:

  • 8:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.
  • 11:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.
  • 3:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.
  • 7:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m.

Final exam locations are published at classes.berkeley.edu (search for a class to view its final exam date, time, and location(s) in the left-hand sidebar of the class details page). Enrolled students and instructors may also view final exam details in CalCentral. Questions about the class schedule or academic calendar may be directed to scheduling@berkeley.edu

Please note there will be final exams in the Recreational Sports Facility (RSF) Fieldhouse this semester; however, there will be no Registrar staffing available to aid with time management or to reset furniture.

Academic Accommodations
If you have a student with accommodation needs, please visit the Academic Accommodations Hub for information on accommodations and supportive measures.

Please be aware that examinations must be conducted in a manner that accommodates all students. For example, if a student’s accommodation for extended time cannot be met, then it is a contravention of the Americans with Disabilities Act to offer the examination for the rest of the class. Instructors in this situation should reach out to their department chair, or consider giving their examination in a 24+ hour window.

For additional information about assessing learning, please see the Teaching Guides on the Center for Teaching & Learning website

DSP Accommodations
The Disabled Students’ Program (DSP) Proctoring Center typically experiences a high-volume of requests for final exams. Please allow sufficient time when emailing proctoring@berkeley.edu with questions regarding exam requests.

The deadline for STUDENTS to submit exam requests is 10 business days prior to the date of the exam. Faculty should submit Testing Agreements well before this deadline in order to allow students to submit their exam requests on time.

Instructors can access a 10-point Guide to DSP Accommodations about common issues that instructors may encounter in handling DSP accommodations. The guide was compiled by faculty members Justin Davidson and Jonah Levy, Disabled Students’ Program Executive Director Carmen Varela, and Disability Access and Compliance Policy, Complaint, and Special Project Manager Steve Johnston.

Jonah and Justin serve as DSP Faculty Liaisons and help instructors with DSP accommodations. Justin, Jonah, and Carmen are available to discuss issues that instructors may be having with DSP accommodations, or to make presentations about DSP to departments. Contact them at justin.davidson@berkeley.edu, jlevy@berkeley.edu, and carmenvarela@berkeley.edu. Steve Johnston is available to discuss access and compliance concerns and to present about these matters to departments. Contact him at stevejohnston@berkeley.edu

Classroom Access and Maintenance
All exam venues will be checked prior to final exam week to ensure that rooms are in acceptable condition for test-taking. Blackboards will be cleaned and other elements that could impact exams will be addressed. Per usual exam protocol, buildings with final exams will be locked at 10:00 p.m. or at the end time of the last final exam in the building. Please direct questions to hotline@berkeley.edu or via the Hotline online report form.
