Call for the Presidential Chair Fellows Grant Program (due April 26)

March 24, 2021

Dear Colleagues,

The Presidential Chair Fellows Grant Program provides an opportunity for teams of two or more faculty members—from one department or across departments—to examine, develop, improve, and transform core areas of the undergraduate curriculum.

For the upcoming grant cycle, we are soliciting proposals where faculty will engage in intentional design of student learning opportunities that address a specific opportunity for fostering equity, inclusion, and community (e.g., projects that implement inclusive teaching strategies, culturally responsive approaches to course (re)design, or equitable grading methods), but will consider any and all projects for course (re)design.

The program will run from June 2021 through May 2022 and will fund up to four projects, each up to $22,000. Applications will be accepted until Monday, April 26, 2021.

A unique aspect of the Presidential Chair Fellows Grant Program is its foundation of scholarly exchange in the form of a learning community. Hence, Fellows will take part in a peer cohort composed of other grant recipients and focused on design and assessment of instructional and curricular (re)design efforts. Fellows will meet in workshops and seminar sessions four times during the course of the award period, beginning June 2, 2021.

For further information about the program, including application instructions, please visit the Presidential Chair Fellows Grant Program website or contact teaching@berkeley.edu and note “PCF Inquiry” in the subject line.

Best Regards,

Catherine P. Koshland
Vice Chancellor for Undergraduate Education
