The American Cultures Engaged Scholarship (ACES) program is now accepting applications for its 2025-26 proposal cycle!
Launched in January 2010, the ACES program is a partnership between the American Cultures Center and the Public Service Center. Since its inception, the program has successfully supported over 100 faculty members in community-engaged scholarship. This work has significantly enhanced student learning through a combination of teaching and practice, creating new knowledge that benefits both community partners and the university.
We welcome applications from Senate and non-Senate faculty in the following implementation categories:
1) Community Partnership Grants: These are open to existing ACES partnerships and the development of new collaborations with community partners in both AC and non-AC courses. This $500 funding will be made available to support community partners’ labor, energy, and time in and outside of the classroom.
2) Chancellor’s Public Fellow: Faculty may apply for $1,500 to be given to a graduate student or senior undergraduate student of their choice to support the community-engaged scholarship and teaching in their course.
Applications are due Friday, August 1 by 5:00 p.m. Visit the ACES Program for application details and contact aces@berkeley.edu with any questions.
Sincerely,
Oliver M. O’Reilly
Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education
